Corsica - Self-guided walking - 14 days  

Corse : EvisaThe Mare e Monti North lets you enjoy all the contrasts and colours of the island. From the Balagne you will head inland towards the high summits, enticing views of sweeping bays, rocky creeks and glistening waters are forever present. The trail leads past the reserve of Scandola, an area protected by Unesco and classed as a site of world beauty, to the Gulf of Porto where you stay in the unique little fishing village of Girolata which is accessible only by boat or foot.


Program
Day 1
Start of holiday in Calvi. Free to discover the town.

Day 2
Leaving Calenzana your route follows the famous GR20 along an old mule trail, you climb progressively up to the Ortiventi fountain, from where you can look back at Calenzana and the villages of the Balagne. Finish at Bonifatu.
10km, 5h00, +540m, -300m.

Day 3
You follow a forestry track to climb slowly towards the South West. Crossing of the impressive Boniftu forest with maritime pines and green oak trees. Walk along the Bocca di Bonassa pass (1153m) and descent to Tuarelli.
14 km, 6h30, +730m, -1170m.

Day 4
You walk along the old transhumance path linking Calvi to Niolu, a pleasant route lined with junipers and myrtle bushes, this path also follows the course of the river Fangu to reach the sea in Galéria.
9km, 4h00, +240m, -320m.

Day 5
Today you start by following a beautiful path shaded from the sun. Your path leads you to a natural pool and alongside the river bank. You will have remarkable views over the gulf of Girolta, the Genoese tower and red granite cliffs.
11km, 6h00, +785m, -785m.

Day 6
After a free morning in Girolata to relax, enjoy the beach and explore, you will have a choice between two scenic itineraries to reach the village of Osani.
7km, 3h00, +344, -344.

Day 7
Going progressively on a path overlooking the village of Partinellu and the whole bay of Porto, you will be pleasantly overwhelmed by the scent of the maquis. From the summit of Curzu a ridge walk offers wonderful sea views.
14km, 6h00, +1100m, -1060m.

Day 8
The route follows a forestry track that affords a beautiful viewpoint over Serriera. It crosses through a pine and chestnut forest with a stone chestnut drying hut. The descent to Vitrone ravine reveals granite rock faces with a lot of distinctive red porphyry.
10km, 6h00, +900m, -600m.

Day 9
From Ota you follow the Spelunca Gorge trail, with natual swimming pools and a genoise bridge, to arrive in Evisa. Along the trail you can steal views across the gorge and back towards Ota village.
7 km , 3h00, +650m, -130m.

Day 10
Walk to Aitone's natural beauty spot, the piscines naturelles, emerald green rock pools and chutes of water await you. Then across the Tavulella river. You arrive at the mystical hamlet of Tassu, before reaching Marignana village.
12km, 4h00 morning, 1h30 afternoon, +450m morning, 650 afternoon, -260m.

Day 11
The Fiuminale valley affords wonderful views that can be enjoyed from under a canopy of chestnut trees. Cutting through the Vaccarecciu chestnut groves you will arrive in Revinda.
15km, 6h30, +500m, -780m.

Day 12
From Revinda to Cargese via the Petracqua plateau (650m). Covered in strawberry trees, this plateau dominates the Pianu Maggiore ridge path.
12km , 5h00, +380m, -850m.

Day 13
Return to Ajaccio. Once in Ajaccio there is the possibility of visiting the "îles Sanguinaires" by boat.
If you feel like it, there is a cliff walk that leads up behind the town and offers wonderful views of the coastline and the gulf.

Day 14
End of holiday in Ajaccio.

The walks are on good footpaths and trails, the terrain is varied but often rocky. You need to be used to walking all day and take regular exercise to enjoy this holiday.

Carrying
The main luggage will be transported by vehicle between the different accommodations, except for Girolata and Revinda where you will have to carry some personal belongings. It is also important to consider that it may be necessary to carry your bags short distances at the start or end of your holiday. You will need the appropriate luggage (Consult with us for left luggage facilities).



Price includes
Half board accommodation, (no evening meals on days 1 and 13), internal transfers, baggage transfers between hotels, the dossier containing your maps, route notes and all necessary details needed for your holiday.
Price does not include
Unforeseen additional transfers, drinks, picnics, extra activities, holiday insurance, evening meals on day 1 and 13, bus ticket from Cargèse to Ajaccio (about 8 euros).
