From Cauterets to Barèges, via the high valley of Luz-Saint-Sauveur and the col de Riou, where there is a splendid panoramic view, you will visit villages renowned for the benefits of their thermal waters.
The itinerary then makes its way through a succession of lakes, mountain passes, at more than 2000m altitude, and mountain villages.
You will cross the Nature Reserve in Néouvielle and its remarkable glacial lakes, before reaching Bagnères-de-Luchon, the belle of the Pyrenees. |

Day 1
Time to settle into your accommodation in Cauterets. Possibility to visit the thermal spa or the Maison du Parc.
Possibility of doing a forest walk in the direction of Turon des Oules, or to continue to the Plateau du Lisey, suspended glacial valley.

Day 2
Ascent to the col de Riou, the panorama is immense with views across the valley of Barèges, Néouvielle massif and the cirque of Troumouse. Descent to Luz-Saint-Sauveur a well known thermal spa spot.

Day 3
Today's walk will allow you to discover the flora and fauna of the Pyrenees, such as the mountain isards and the playful marmottes. The valley of light, ‘vallée lumière’ is a real joy for walkers.

Day 4
Walk in the sumptuous natural reserve of Néouvielle. The col Madamète and the lakes Aumar, Aubert, Lacquettes and Orédon are on today's itinerary.

Day 5
From Artigusse the trail takes you to the lake de l’Oule, the Col de Portet and the ski resort of Saint Lary. It makes its way across high altitude pastures before descending to the village of Vieille-Aure and on to Azet.

Day 6
From Germ you can enjoy some superb views of the French/Spanish summits. Encounter mountain lifestyle and agricultural traditions. Ascension towards Espingo lake, the Granges d’Astau and the Lac d’Oo provide scenery that is a pure marvel.

Day 7
The walk to Luchon will plunge you into a high mountain decor. Traverse the Hourquette des Hounts, altitude 2275m, the mountain pass Col de la Coume de Bourg 2272m and optional ascent of the Pic de Céciré.

Day 1 at your gite in Cauterets.
If you are doing the 3rd and 4th section of the GR10, the night in Cauterets is offered half-board in a gite.
End
Day 7 in Bagnères-de-Luchon after the walk.
If you are doing the 4th and 5th section of the GR10, the night in Bagnères-de-Luchon is offered, BB in a hotel.

The walks are on good footpaths and trails, the terrain is varied but often rocky. You need to be used to walking and take regular exercise to enjoy this holiday.

Carrying
You need to carry a small day sack only with a water bottle, camera, picnic and wind jacket.
The main luggage will be transported by vehicle between the different accommodations. For the 6th night you have to carry some personal belongings for the night.

Half-board accommodation (4 nights in gites and 2 nights in refuges), transfers days 4, 5 and 6, luggage transfers, the dossier containing your maps, route notes and all necessary details needed for your holiday.
